Oxford Agents Giving Back

At Oxford, we love to have the opportunity to give back to our community in New York City and a result, we always make it a priority to lend a hand to those in need. Because of our commitment to the community, we’ve organized different ways to for our agents to give back to the city that has given us so much. Recently, we connected with god’s love we deliver, a meal-delivery service for those affected by HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses.

A group of Oxford agents came together one morning to volunteer with God’s Love We Deliver where we helped prepare over 500 meals. God’s Love We Deliver strives to eliminate malnutrition for people who are fighting serious illnesses and are too sick to cook for themselves. The meals provided by God’s Love We Deliver are specifically prepared with the health and wellness of each recipient in mind, taking into account their individual needs and illnesses. God’s Love We Deliver also provides nutrition counseling to their clients, family members and caregivers as a way to help ensure that each recipient is getting the foods that will help them the most.

“We all wanted to give back to the community and volunteer. God’s Love We Deliver is a great organization in New York City and we loved lending a hand,” said Adam Mahfouda, who volunteered at the event and is the co-founder of Oxford.

All the services provided by God’s Love We Deliver are provided free of charge, making the volunteers’ participation a welcome addition to the organization. God’s Love We Deliver provides over 245,000 meals each year to throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester and Nassau Counties in New York and Hudson County in New Jersey.

“The Oxford team was really happy that we could help out and bit and make our neighbors’ lives a bit better with a meal delivery,” Mahfouda added.     “Having a debilitating illness is incredibly difficult and this is a way we can give back to the community that hopefully makes someone’s day a bit brighter.”

Founded in 1985 by a woman who started delivering food via bicycle to a man dying of AIDS, God’s Love We Deliver now cooks 6,600 meals each weekday. God’s Love We Deliver is able to deliver food to those who request it within 24-48 hours of being contacted. A team of registered dietitians is able to individually tailor each meal for each client’s specific medical requirements. Over 10,000 people volunteer with God’s Love We Deliver each year, and the Oxford team was thankful for their opportunity to be a part of such an incredible service.

We’re looking forward to future volunteering events where we can help other organizations fulfill their mission in New York City. At Oxford, we understand that we are more than people passing by each other on the streets; we are friends, family, and  neighbors, which when combined, make up the most dynamic community in the world.
